Melbourne made & designed • Experience exceptional craftsmanship and design with the Meguro Stool by John Bastiras. Crafted with sustainably sourced Solid American Oak, inspired by a visit to the Meguro Catholic Church designed by Architect Antonin Raymond in 1957 in the Meguro-Ku district of Tokyo, Japan.

The Meguro Stool is perfect for many occasions, use as a bedside table, a side table and an extra seat around the table. Tailor this design to suit your needs and preferences with a custom stain or size. 

Dimensions: 37cm W x 29cm D x 46cm H

Materials: Studio Bastiras works with a range of sustainably sourced materials, comprising of solid American oak, walnut and ash. Our timber is sustainable solid wood from America or Europe, offering long-term durability and repairability of the surface. Natural colour and grain variations in every plank makes each piece individual.

All sealants and finishes are non-toxic and applied by hand, sprayed or rubbed. The Meguro showcases a tactile and luxurious woodgrain detail using a laminated process, the colour palette has been inspired by the iconic LeCorbusier.

John Bastiras Design Studio (JB.DS) is the result of a multi-faceted and passionate approach to furniture design by its namesake - John Bastiras. Launched in 2019, the JB.DS signature collection is derived from a simple desire to produce designs that exude a highly considered appeal that renders them with a profound simplicity and a beautiful sense of aesthetic refinement. It is by looking back that we can move forward and JB.DS has established an aesthetic that honours a proven artisanal approach to furniture design and a tried and tested precedent evident in each finished product. With a nod to current lifestyles and the ability for materials to define their own aesthetic, each piece of furniture designed at JB.DS has come full circle to emerge as a suitable cornerstone to any space.
