Børge Mogensen (1914 – 1972) is known as one of the great Danish designers
of the twentieth century for his quality furniture and strong, minimalist designs. Characterised by simple, solid lines and durable construction, his clean aesthetics and precise proportions embody Danish modernism. Having initially trained as a cabinet-maker before studying furniture design at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, Børge Mogensen later studied architecture at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He later became design director at the Danish Co-Operative Society, FDB, where he focused on creating well-designed, functional furniture that could be industrially produced for the general public.
