Named after the traditional Japanese pottery technique, Raku is a compact lamp with a considerable presence. Drawing inspiration from the age-old art form, the lamp features a hand-sculpted ceramic base with a crackle glaze that varies slightly in each piece, serving as a reminder to enjoy the idiosyncracies of natural materials.

Dimensions: 16cm Ø x 21cm H

Materials: Anodised aluminium or brass & ceramic.
Production Process - The metal shade is spun. The ceramic base is moulded and glazed to achieve a crackled effect.

About the Designer: Sebastian Herkner

Sebastian Herkner (born 1981) studied product design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design and now works for international companies, designing furniture and lamps, porcelain and glass. He also curates and stages exhibitions dealing with design.

Herkner's work is characterised by his sensitivity to colour, materials and textures, his love of craft and his curiosity about new technologies and world cultures.
