The PI Table Lamp by Clément Cauvet for DCW éditions takes its name and shape from the Greek alphabet, a return to the essentials of language. Part sculpture, part small building, it is functional through its light.

Two concrete barrels stand side by side with a brass-plated steel diffuser between them, directing the light back onto the wall behind. Fitted with a dimmable 2700K LED, it suits a console, desk or sideboard where the object is as considered as the light.

Designed by Clément Cauvet | Manufactured by DCW éditions, France.

DCW éditions is a french company, founded in 2008 by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler. They first produced the Lampe Gras, created in 1921 by the inventor Bernard-Albon Gras, first articulated lamp of the history, much lauded at the time by Le Corbusier.

2013 saw them bring out the Mantis lamps of British designer Bernard Schottlander. The Mantis were created in 1951 as an homage to Alexander Calder. DCW Éditions then released the singular Here Comes the Sun, designed by Bertrand Balas in 1970.

As the past is nothing without the future, DCW innovated by editing for instance In the Tube, specially designed by world renowned architect Dominique Perrault and his partner Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost.

Clément Cauvet is an unclassifiable creator, who generally works on unique pieces. Speaking about his lighting, he says: “Like a child playing with Lego in his room, I tried to translate a world using concrete and metal. I see these three luminaires as a bridge between past, present, and future.” The full delicacy of his objects is revealed when light brushes against their radical form.
