Studio Bastiras works with a range of sustainably sourced materials, comprising of solid American oak, walnut and ash. 

Our timber is sustainable solid wood from America, offering long-term durability and repairability of the surface. Natural colour and grain variations in every plank makes each piece individual. All sealants and finishes are non-toxic and applied by hand, sprayed or rubbed.

John Bastiras brings a rich background in architectural studies and furniture design. He began his career working in architectural firms across Adelaide before transitioning into the world of interiors and furniture. His passion for furniture took root over 30 years ago when he launched his own vintage Scandinavian furniture store—blending iconic design classics with locally crafted products and interior solutions.

Driven by a deep love for design—particularly architecture and furniture—John spent 15 years as Creative Director. In 2019, he and his wife Louise co-founded In Good Company, a venture celebrating thoughtful design and craftsmanship.

Today, John leads Studio Bastiras, a design studio producing a curated collection of furniture and custom joinery for both residential and commercial spaces. He continues to collaborate closely with designers and architects to create unique, considered pieces that bring spaces to life.
