In a new collaboration, GUBI and the boutique Parisian textile house GARRO ÉDITIONS bring together two pioneering figures of 20th-century art and design: Finnish lighting legend Paavo Tynell and revered English sculptor and artist Henry Moore. This special edition combines the classically Scandinavian elegance of Tynell’s 9602 Floor Lamp with the dynamic energy of Moore’s black-line drawings. The result is a striking lamp that is both a functional lighting solution and a collectible tribute to the two trailblazing modernist creatives.

Dimensions: 153cm H x 63cm Ø

Materials: The GUBI X GARRO ÉDITIONS 9602 special edition features a pleated linen shade adorned with Henry Moore’s ‘Haringey Circus Horses’, a spontaneous pen-and-ink drawing created in 1956 during a trip to the circus with his daughter. Moore was fascinated by horses and other livestock, and returned to them as inspiration for studies, sketches, and other artworks throughout his career.

Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was born in Helsinki 12 years after the invention of the domestic lightbulb – a time when Finland, like most of northern Europe, was yet to be electrified. Tynell came into the world at precisely the right time to become one of the pioneers of modern lighting; as the electric light spread across the world, so too did Tynell’s design visions. By the time he died in 1973, Tynell was known, fondly, as ‘the man who illuminated Finland’. Shop Designer >
