La Lampe Frechin by Jean-Louis Frechin for DCW éditions pairs timeless materials with a poetic approach to technology. A borosilicate glass tube rises from a base of black marble and anodised aluminium, playing light against shadow.
An integrated touch dimmer offers three settings, and the lamp works as well on a table as on the floor. It lights a space as much as it radiates within it.

DCW éditions is a french company, founded in 2008 by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler. They first produced the Lampe Gras, created in 1921 by the inventor Bernard-Albon Gras, first articulated lamp of the history, much lauded at the time by Le Corbusier.
2013 saw them bring out the Mantis lamps of British designer Bernard Schottlander. The Mantis were created in 1951 as an homage to Alexander Calder. DCW Éditions then released the singular Here Comes the Sun, designed by Bertrand Balas in 1970.
As the past is nothing without the future, DCW innovated by editing for instance In the Tube, specially designed by world renowned architect Dominique Perrault and his partner Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost.

About the Designer: Jean-Louis Frechin
Jean-Louis Frechin is a French designer and architect specializing in digital design and innovation.
Trained at the National School of Architecture of Paris-Villemin and at the National School of Industrial Design, he taught at the Higher School of Art and Design of Amiens, and at the National School of Industrial Design (Ensci/Les Ateliers) where he founded the Digital Design Workshop and the FAbLab workshop.
Since 2001, he has directed NoDesign, a design and innovation agency. He produces neo-objects, as he himself calls them, objects capable of producing, collecting or transmitting information, and reacting to various data within the framework of industrial, cultural or research projects.
