Crafting with Kaolin Softedge Studio utilises Kaolin, a key material first discovered in Jingdezhen, China. This pure clay has been a cornerstone in the production of fine Japanese porcelain since the early Edo Period, imbuing each Softedge creation with historical richness and unparalleled quality.

The Artisanal Process The journey of each Softedge piece begins with meticulously sourced materials, transformed through a blend of traditional techniques and modern innovation. The studio employs an additional 7 step process, allowing for precise shapes, thin walls, and colourful hues - characteristic of Softedge’s elegant designs. Each item is then treated to a high-firing process at 1300 degrees Celsius, achieving full vitrification that ensures durability and a beautifully refined finish.
