The 9464 Wall Lamp, designed in the early 1950s by Paavo Tynell, is an excellent example of how the Finnish designer elevated illumination into a form of art. Equally relevant today, as when first introduced, the 9464 Wall Lamp fit perfectly into contemporary interiors, adding a sculptural effect to the wall whilst simultaneously creating relaxed yet indirect lighting.

Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was born in Helsinki 12 years after the invention of the domestic lightbulb – a time when Finland, like most of northern Europe, was yet to be electrified. Tynell came into the world at precisely the right time to become one of the pioneers of modern lighting; as the electric light spread across the world, so too did Tynell’s design visions.
