Drawing on geometric Art Deco, GamFratesi designed the IOI Wall Mirror, a timeless piece ideal for modern audiences and interiors. The ‘sticks and sphere’ motif is reflected in the shape of the letters that form their name, pronounced ‘i-o-i.’ The brass sphere works as both a functional ‘spacer’ to strengthen the dual pipe-like mirror struts and as an intimately considered signature detail or ‘pause’ that emphasises its materiality and the careful attention paid to the spaces between the elements of each piece.

GamFratesi Studio was established in 2006 by the Danish architect Stine Gam (born 1975) and the Italian architect Enrico Fratesi (born 1978). GamFratesi belongs to the latest generation of furniture architects and together they represent a new interpretation of the meeting between Danish and international design traditions.

“Our work is balancing between the traditional and surprising. Often it takes just a small detail to achieve or break an expression, and we are very curious about that.”
