Soul Story 1 by Charles Kalpakian is a plaster lamp intended as wall lamps and designed to be scrutinised as if entering a dark alley at dusk and suddenly being pierced with a surreal ray of light.

A self-confessed biographical exercise, SOUL invites contemplation of each model through the gaze of a small metal character, either seated or standing, that DCWéditions invites you to handle as a self-portrait of Kalpakian.

The SOUL collection includes 5 white plaster lights with or without gold leaf decoration and a corner sconce for hallway lighting.

DCW éditions is a french company, founded in 2008 by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler. They first produced the Lampe Gras, created in 1921 by the inventor Bernard-Albon Gras, first articulated lamp of the history, much lauded at the time by Le Corbusier.

2013 saw them bring out the Mantis lamps of British designer Bernard Schottlander. The Mantis were created in 1951 as an homage to Alexander Calder. DCW Éditions then released the singular Here Comes the Sun, designed by Bertrand Balas in 1970.

As the past is nothing without the future, DCW innovated by editing for instance In the Tube, specially designed by world renowned architect Dominique Perrault and his partner Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost.
